Many people know that Christmas is the busiest time of the year for postal companies and the Royal Mail is no different as people from all over the country send letters to family and friends across the globe.

Like previous years they are looking for seasonal workers to help sort the Christmas post. This year, they are recruiting around 19,000 temporary workers to support the other members of staff

These positions will be available across a variety of shifts between mid-November and early January 2015, with the peak of the work in December.

Parcelforce Worldwide is also looking for drivers and indoor workers as the whole organisation gears up to delivery at Christmas.

Festive mailbag

Around 15,000 people are needed to work in mail and distribution centres across England, 1,100 in Scotland, 600 in Wales and 400 in Northern Ireland. Parcelforce is also recruiting 2,000 extra people throughout the UK.

Chief operations officer, Sue Whalley says: ‘Christmas is the busiest time of the year for Royal Mail. Every year we make a substantial financial commitment in additional resources to handle the festive mailbag, including the recruitment of thousands of temporary workers.’
